Journal Identity

Law, Technology & Society offers a scholarly forum in which law is reconsidered as an institution, a knowledge practice and a social domain. While maintaining a generalist editorial line open to the full breadth of law, the journal foregrounds the impact of technological transformation on legal institutions and rights, and the reciprocal shaping between law and society as its distinctive areas of interest.

The editorial line embraces methodological pluralism: doctrinal legal analyses, empirical socio-legal research, theoretical and critical legal thought, and comparative and interdisciplinary inquiries are weighted equally in the review process. (For scope details, sub-fields and article types see Aim & Scope.)

2. Founding Rationale

Turkish legal scholarship carries a rich tradition of classical doctrinal work. By contrast, empirical research on the social workings of law and interdisciplinary inquiries focused on the impact of technological transformation on legal institutions still develop within a relatively narrow space. The need to gather such work within a bilingual (Turkish–English), peer-reviewed venue open to international circulation reflects both a goal of making local theoretical contributions visible and a goal of providing a concrete contribution to international scholarly debate.

Law, Technology & Society was founded to address this need. Without departing from the classical concerns of legal scholarship, the journal opens to academic debate the new questions that arise where those concerns intersect with technology and society. Rather than committing to a single theoretical school or methodological approach, the editorial line seeks to bring different legal traditions into critical dialogue.

3. Publication Policy

All submissions undergo editorial screening followed by double-blind peer review. Plagiarism screening is performed with Crossref Similarity Check (iThenticate); all accepted articles are assigned a DOI.

Under the open access policy, journal content is made available to readers under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license; no fees are charged to authors or readers. Ethical standards follow the principles of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).

For details see: Ethical Principles and Publication Policy, Pricing Policy, Archiving Policy, Copyright Notice.

4. Editorial Structure

The journal’s academic processes are coordinated by the Editor-in-Chief. Field editors conduct initial review of submissions and manage the peer review process. The Editorial Board includes scholars distinguished at the national and international level and shapes the journal’s publication policy. The reviewer pool expands with each issue.

For current names see: Editorial Board, International Editorial Board.

5.
